Greetings alumni and friends of Southern Illinois University.
As you may know, Southern Illinois University Carbondale has made some changes in light of the COVID-19 virus, including extending spring break and exploring options for online and other alternative teaching. While we have no confirmed cases in the SIU system, times like this call for responsible action and the utmost caution.
While we were greatly looking forward to celebrating the 150th Anniversary with our upcoming events on March 27 and 28, the safety, health and well-being of our community, alumni and friends is our top priority. At this time, we have made the decision to cancel the speaking event with Ken Jennings (and all associated student events and receptions).
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all who supported these events. Many hours of planning and preparation have already been spent creating a showcase of the wonderful past, present, and future of SIU. We hope to share aspects of this at upcoming events later in the year.
