Come celebrate the release of the new book detailing SIU’s story through hundreds of photographs, personal recollections and interesting stories. Meet with the book’s editor and authors, enjoy refreshments and more, 3-6 p.m. March 22 at the SIU Student Center.
Museum’s 150th Celebration
Join us for a special reception on Apr. 12 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. as we celebrate the founding of the first university museum in the state of Illinois. The evening will include a variety of fun exhibits, birthday cake provided by the Friends of the University Museum and remarks from Dean of Library Affairs, John Pollitz.
Homecoming
You won’t want to miss this year’s homecoming, which takes place Oct. 13-19, as SIU celebrates its 150th anniversary in grand style.
The university is commemorating its birth as a small teacher’s college and growth to become an internationally known research institution with scores of special activities throughout the year, but the celebration will really ramp up for homecoming as alumni return to campus from far and near.
Gridiron action sees the Salukis battling the Youngstown State Penguins on Oct. 19. Special events are happening all week, including the homecoming parade, court selection, a big block party, tailgating and more.

Family Weekend
The Saluki football team will be taking on the Skyhawks from the University of Tennessee at Martin on Sept. 14. Numerous other special family-oriented activities are in the works throughout the weekend.

SIU’s 150th Birthday
Come celebrate SIU’s 150th Birthday and the Day of Giving!
Students and staff will be able to watch the Day of Giving totals increase on a big screen while connecting with various departments that are benefitting from the day.
Free activities will include a photo booth, 150th cookies, a DJ, balloon animals, 150th t-shirts and a free keepsake for SIU students. View details about this event here.
150th Kick Off
On March 6, the #SIU community will join together for an extraordinary day of giving back. #SIUDAY, a 24-hour giving campaign, is a chance for Salukis everywhere to come together and show pride in their alma mater. Every gift will provide essential funding to support students and shape the university. Beginning Wednesday, March 6, we can begin the celebration of 150 years of SIU and look forward to another successful 150 years.
